King Charles has continued carrying out official duties despite his ongoing cancer treatment. Recent official royal records show the King undertaking engagements in Scotland, including meetings with clean-energy drivers and technology leaders.
The Royal Family has also announced an upcoming state visit by the Sultan of Oman to Windsor Castle.
Charles's health remains a subject of public interest because Buckingham Palace announced his cancer diagnosis in 2024. In December 2025, it was announced that the King's treatment would be reduced during 2026, although he has continued receiving treatment.
That ongoing medical situation has frequently generated exaggerated claims on social media. A hospital visit or medical appointment would not automatically mean that the Prince of Wales had assumed the King's constitutional responsibilities.
Prince William is, of course, the heir apparent and would become King if Charles were no longer able to reign or after his death. But there has been no official announcement of an abdication, regency, or transfer of the King's constitutional powers.
